Purple TONES
Food-Music-Movement-Clothing
Color affects us all in many ways from what we wear to the food we eat. Purple was once so rare it was only afforded by royalty and spiritual leaders, so it’s no surprise it represents: creativity, royalty and wealth, spirituality, mystery and fantasy in our modern world. In branding purple connects with its historical roots and says luxury and wealth, while lavenders speaks of spirituality and healing.
Surrounding yourself with can purple spark the imagination and creativity, soothe and calm the spirit and boost the mood. So whether you are stuck creatively or need a moment of calm, purple could help clear a path.

PURPLE TONES: CLOTHING
I have always loved flowers and muppets. I wanted to incorporate them and some muppety energy into my purple portrait. Here’s more about wearing purple from around our world.
Purple dye was originally extracted from marine mollusks, making it very rare and it became a status symbol for hundreds of years worn by royalty, the very wealthy and spiritual leaders.
In modern western culture purple symbolizes wealth, independence, devotion, eccentricity, pride and creativity.
It also symbolizes courage in the form of the Purple Heart, the highest military honor given to the men and women that serve the United States. Purple also symbolizes bipartisan politics, because it is a combination of blue for democrats and red for republicans and many women in government have worn it during inaugurations for unity.
Outside of western culture, purple is the traditional color for funerals in Thailand, Brazil, India and Italy. In Thailand purple is reserved for widows, while others wear black. In Brazil, Catholic mourners wear purple to express their grief and religious devotion. It is considered unlucky to wear purple outside of a funeral.
Understanding what colors mean in other cultures can help us to connect in our increasingly global world.
